You’re Priceless

There are some things we hear so often that they slowly lose their ability to surprise us. A favorite song eventually becomes background noise. A familiar route to work requires almost no thought. Even words of great importance can become ordinary through repetition.

The Gospel can suffer the same fate.

Many Christians have heard that Jesus died for their sins since they were children. We’ve listened to countless sermons about the cross, sung hymns celebrating His sacrifice, and recited verses from memory. Yet something so familiar can quietly become something we no longer stop to marvel at.

Pause and consider what actually happened.

The Creator stepped into His own creation. The sinless Son of God willingly endured betrayal, mocking, scourging, nails, and the cross—not because He deserved it, but because we did. He laid down His life so we could receive forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life. That wasn’t a symbolic gesture or a moving illustration. It was the greatest demonstration of love the world has ever known.

Your value is not determined by your income, accomplishments, appearance, or popularity. Heaven has already declared your worth. The price paid for your redemption was not silver or gold, but the precious blood of Jesus Christ.

When the Gospel begins to feel ordinary, it isn’t because its beauty has faded. It’s because our hearts have grown too familiar with the greatest story ever told.

Take time this week to linger at the foot of the cross. Read the crucifixion accounts slowly. Thank Christ for every wound He bore and every sin He carried. Don’t let Calvary become routine.

The cross reminds us of something we should never forget:
