Two Houses. Two Perspectives.

“It is better to go to the house of mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.”
Ecclesiastes 7:2

Two houses.

The house of feasting is a great place.
It’s a place where you can go to eat with family, friends, colleagues, and neighbors.

It’s a place of relaxation.
It’s a place of enjoyment.

It’s a place where you can get what you want and have it delivered right to your table…
Just the way you like it.
Restaurants cater to YOU.

The house of mourning is a sobering place.
There are no clanging dishes and sporadic laughter from various people. The mood is quiet, somber, contemplative, and soft.

All attention is not on YOU, it’s on the one in the coffin parked front and center…a life that has entered either eternal glory or eternal torment.

God tells us that the funeral home is better than the restaurant.
Why? Because funerals are a reality check against the lies of this world.
You can skip a meal at the restaurant…
but you’ll never skip death.

This world says that the most important thing you can do is treat yourself to the good life.
God says the most important thing you can do is consider your life…especially the fact that it will one day be YOU in the coffin…and then what? At that point it’s too late to consider eternity.

If your body is in the coffin, you have already met your maker.
You’ve had a chat with King Jesus.

Live today for God as if you have many more years on Earth…but always know that one heartbeat stands between you and eternity somewhere…that could be today for any of us. Where are you headed?

Have you made Jesus your Savior?
He’s the best decision I ever made.
