The Baby Became a Hated Man

“He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.”
Isaiah 53:3

Read this verse, then consider that little baby in the manger in Bethlehem over 2,000 years ago.

The baby was not despised and rejected of men.
The baby wasn’t a man of sorrows.
He wasn’t acquainted with grief.
People didn’t run from him.
He wasn’t hated…
Yet.

But Jesus Christ began to grow, and revealed to the people around Him that He understood this world better than anyone:
He demonstrated wisdom.
He demonstrated compassion.
He demonstrated miracles.
He demonstrated love.

When He opened His mouth and challenged the religious leaders of the day, He became hated for walking and speaking TRUTH.

Cute babies in mangers can’t speak.
They can just look cute, and for that reason we consider them harmless.
They can’t start a movement, gain a following, or speak truth to power.

But when babies grow into adults and find their voices, they demonstrate who they are and what they believe.
When Jesus grew up and found His voice, He became hated by those who hate the Truth.

Remember the baby in the manger.
The world and the devil would love to leave him that way: cute and harmless to evil people and their evil plans. They want Jesus to simply be a plastic infant on the lawn of a church once a year, and nothing else.

But that baby grew up and stomped the devil into the dirt for us. He conquered death, hell, and the grave.

In your face, devil.
