Yokemates: Part One

“Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?”
2 Corinthians 6:14

Have you ever seen a team of oxen or horses yoked together in order to pull something?
It’s a powerful sight:

  • Where one animal has strength, two of the same animals have double the strength.
  • Where one animal is prone to wander, two animals can keep each other moving in the right direction.
  • Where one animal is vulnerable to all the stress of the job, two animals can alleviate that pressure by sharing the load.

When we work for the Lord, those who we’re working with in ministry must be familiar with the One holding the reins.

Each worker must know, and respect, His voice.

He tells us to pull, we pull together.
He tells us to turn, we turn together.
He tells us to stop, we stop together.

A selfish Christian will pull, turn, and stop when they FEEL like it…but successful Christian ministry (and life) is built on obedience, not feelings.

When like-minded Christians are yoked up together in obedience to the Word of God, it’s a beautiful thing.

That’s when churches and relationships flourish, lives are encouraged, souls are saved, and God’s purposes are accomplished.

Who is YOUR yokemate?
Are YOU a willing yokemate?

Let Him choose your yokemates, and your shared plowing will yield success for His honor and glory.
