His Courts Will Never Crumble

“My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.”
Psalm 84:2

The Psalmist was longing to dwell in the courts of the LORD.
He knew that man’s finest palatial courts could never compare or measure up to the courts of God.

Back in “the day”, the King’s court was a place of majesty and order.
It was a place where politeness, respect, and honor were always on display.
At the center of the King’s court was the King Himself. He was the chief authority, the highest-ranking individual, and the most important person.

To put it plainly:
When the King spoke, people listened.
What the King decreed was done.
What the King wanted He received.

Well, those were the rules anyway.
But those earthly kingdoms were filled with selfish, fleshly people…including the King himself.

Very often, historical Kings spoke lies, decreed erroneous things, and demanded things (and people) that only served to satisfy HIS carnal desires.

Why did the Psalmist desire the courts of the Lord so badly?
Because he had seen man’s feeble attempt at kingship and wielding authority. He’d seen how quickly kingdoms could fall…still true today.

How many massive castles lie empty around the world today?
Many…you can even go online and buy one if you want a drafty, cold, stone home without electricity and running water.
What happened to them?
They were once occupied by powerful elites with titles…but at the end of the day no man’s title, wealth, or power is bulletproof.
ALL were ruled by sinners and subject to corruption, deception, treachery, and defeat.

I believe the Psalmist was saying this:
“Lord, I’ve seen man’s attempt at wielding power and authority, and it’s fallible.
My soul is starving to be in the presence of YOUR kingdom courts, where there is true respect, honor, honesty, power, and perfection.
I want to be where there will never be corruption or destruction.
I want to be where the living God dwells!”

After more than a few decades stuck in a sinful flesh body, and watching the world drown itself in corruption, I’m longing to see God’s perfect kingdom also.

The best is yet to come, Christian!
